Key qualifications
- Hydrologic and Water Resource Management studies for Greece, the UK Environment Agency and UK Water companies.
- Hydrologic, hydraulic, water quality, eco-hydrologic and integrated modelling. Catchment scale modelling for the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and extensive use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Sustainable development of communities in terms of water resources / water use (greywater recycling, rainwater harvesting, sustainable waste water management, etc.) and analysis of water – energy systems and interactions.
- Preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments in the UK for development and infrastructure projects and the Middle East for major industrial customers.
- Flood Risk Assessment studies, including flood modelling and mapping for private developers.
- Climate Change impact studies for strategic planning of public utilities contributing to the UK’s government commitments towards the Kyoto Protocol.
- Risk and Uncertainty Analysis associated with water demand forecasts incorporating social, economic and climate changes feeding into long term asset management plans (AMP’s) indicating infrastructure investment gaps of water companies.
- Technical Appraisal and evaluation for environmental projects using Multilevel Analysis and Modelling.
- Monitoring and Assessment of regulatory obligations of companies including water quality standards, quality of service and pricing.
- Field work experience (hydrometry, pumping tests, etc.) and on-site progress evaluation.
- In-depth knowledge of financial coordination of EU funded projects in the Balkan and SEE Region (ERDF, PHARE, CARDS) (expense certification process through the National Certifying Bodies under Structural and Cohesion Funds of the EU, financial reporting, financial coordination and support to EU and external Project Partners).
- In-depth knowledge of technical coordination of EU funded projects in the Balkan and SEE Region (INTERREG) (Progress Reporting, Project Partner coordination on behalf of the Lead Partner, programming of workshops and management board meetings).
- Practical involvement in numerous bids and expressions of interest with multiple international consortia for EU programmes (FP7, FP6, INTERREG CADSES, TEMPUS) and Greek National CSF 2000-2006, 2007-2013 Competitiveness and Environment OP’s from both an academic and consultancy perspective.
- Acquainted with the regulatory framework for the environment in the UK, Greece and the EU (Water Framework Directive, Groundwater Directive, Floods Directive, Dangerous Substances Directive, etc.).
- Substantial experience in working with international teams and in diverse working environments, in industry, academia, as well as non-governmental organisations in developing countries.
