The cistern were constructed with re-used masonry or 800 mm thick roughly squared masonry and the walls were lined with hard lime plaster. The dimensions of the cistern were 3 - 8.5 m long, 2 - 6.5 m wide and 1 - 3 m deep. The overflow was going into caves or to the sea, through channels.
